Illustrator, David Newborne

IllustratorDavid F. Newborne was born in Nashville, and, while an infant, moved with his parents, David and Julia Newborne to Memphis.

As a young child, David was exposed to the arts through the city’s rich musical heritage and his very musical family. His father was a high school band director. His mother sang and played piano in the church.

David’s interest and participation in music branched off into visual art and design, enabling him to win numerous art contests while in school. This led to his decision to attend Tennesse State University in Nashville where he majored in architectural engineering. There, he played trumpet with the marching band and designed the band uniforms and school logos.

He is a multi-faceted artistic designer and illustrator. The talent that God has placed in him to bring pictorial life to writers’ words are evident in this book The Tales Of Tortoise and others, such as The Lady King and With Unveiled Faces.

David now resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife Cynthia, his greatest inspiration. They are the proud parents of Tiffani, Taryn, David Troy and Traci, all of whom are gifted. He also has three grandsons Joshua, Jonas and Gabriel.

Senior Editor, Tressie Anigbo

Tressie Anigbo was born in Hamilton, Ohio in the summertime. She repeatedly asked her parents for siblings until she graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Black Studies and English with a Writing Concentration. Then, reality hit; they really meant it when they said, “No.” Ever resilient, she turned her pursuits to obtaining a Masters in School Psychology. In the process she married and relocated to the Dallas area. For approximately a decade, she has used her MA to benefit Texas schools and has written Sunday School curriculum for Urban Ministries as well. However, she never got over the imaginary trauma of being an only child. In her quest to right the wrongs of only children everywhere, she and her husband are having the adventure of their lives parenting four precious and precocious children—rather than the two he claims they agreed to have during premarital counseling. When she informed him of her further interests in writing, counseling, workshop facilitating and having twins, he preemptively introduced her to his friend Obi, who happens to be a multidisciplinary publisher with public speaking experience.
